The Cleveland Browns traded Houston Texan quarterback Deshaun watson, NFL Network’s Ian Report and Tom Pelicero for Friday.
The Texans will receive three first-round draft picks (2022, 2023, 2024) in the trade, in addition to the third-round 2023 and fourth-round 2024, as Deshaun Watson decides to waive its no-trade clause, the report said. Visit Cleveland after meeting the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers this week. The Browns will receive a 2024 fifth-rounder as part of the late-round pick swap.
The Texans later declared trade.
“Before today, we have agreed to trade Desan Watson with the Cleveland Browns,” Texan general manager Nick Caserio said in a statement through the team. “I felt it was the right move for our organization as we entered the new league year with a focus on making our list for the 2022 season. Our priority at the moment is to add talented players to the foundation that we have already laid in the last 15 months and this trade supports that plan. As we navigate other off-seasons, we feel open in all the ways that allow us to improve our roster and add to our program. ”
Deshaun Watson will receive a five-year, fully guaranteed $ 230 million contract from the Browns, per report. As part of the deal, QB will receive a 45 million signing bonus and its base salary for the 2022 season will be $ 1 million, Pelisero added.
News of Deshaun Watson’s expected trade came a day after it was reported that the Browns were the first team to be dropped from a possible deal. The Panthers were then told they were no longer running on Thursday, setting the stage for an apparent final two of the Falcons and Saints.
Pelicero reported to the NFL Network that in addition to his strengths with the Browns roster, general manager Andrew Berry, and owner Jimmy Haslam, Deshaun Watson’s NFC is determining the reasons for leaving the South and moving north to Cleveland.
Trade negotiations for Deshaun Watson quickly escalated when a Harris County (Texas) grand jury determined March 11 that there was not enough evidence to charge Deshaun Watson with a crime after allegations of sexual misconduct from a massage therapy session. Deshaun Watson has also faced 22 civil cases. The 26-year-old NFL is under investigation and is subject to possible disciplinary action under the league’s privacy policy.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said in a statement Friday that “any transaction will have no effect on the NFL’s ongoing and extensive investigation into serious allegations against Desan Watson.” “It will not affect its position under the Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Privacy Policy.
“If the league’s investigation determines that Deshaun Watson violated the personal conduct policy, discipline may be imposed in accordance with the policy and the CBA.”

With Deshaun Watson’s expected addition, the Browners are now expected to trade former No. 1 overall draft pick Baker Mayfield, who on Thursday asked him to trade in 2018 with the drafting agency.
Reports have reported that Mayfield Texans is not expected to be part of the trade package and will be dealt with as part of a separate transaction.
As Deshaun Watson AFC moves north, the Saints, Falcons and Panthers will re-group and evaluate their existing QB rooms.
Rapaports have reported that the Falcons will draw their attention to long-time starter and former AP NFL Most Valuable Player Matt Ryan considering his options as well as making him feel desirable. It was previously reported that Falcon and Ryan had agreed to restructure a deal to fill the $ 12 million pay-cap space.
The Saints fell short of the playoffs last season – Shaun Payton’s last year as head coach – as they struggled to find continuity in the quarterback position and finished 9-8. James Winston started the season as a starter under the center but a torn ACL ended early in the year,Future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Bryce forced Payton to switch hands between Tyson Hill, Trevor Simian and Ian Booke in his first season in New Orleans in 16 years. A possible Winston-Saints reunion is now something to look forward to in New Orleans.
The Panthers, who have been involved in the Deshaun Watson trade talks for more than a year, will now move into a QB room with Sam Darnald and PJ Walker.
The Atlanta Falcons front office would be “surprised” if it did not land Houston Texas quarterback Desaun Watson in a blockbuster trade because of “mutual interests.”
CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson reported Friday that Falcons executives have been cleared to work to finalize a deal for Watson, which could include a reshuffle for the three-time Pro Bowl selection.
Watson’s trade talks have been heated since a Texas grand jury refused to charge him with sexual harassment and misconduct by women hired to provide massage services. He is still facing 22 civil cases.
Athletic’s Jeff Howe reported Thursday that the Falcons and New Orleans Saints were the final contenders for the 26-year-old Clemson product. The Carolina Panthers and the Cleveland Browns were left out of the fray.
Watson is a Georgian native, and Falcons owner Arthur Blank has “admired” him ever since he worked as a ball boy for his organization, and according to Coty Davis of Sports Illustrated, the two have developed a “close relationship” over the years.
The connection could end Atlanta as Quarterback takes control of its next destination due to a no-trade clause in its four-year, $ 156 million contract.
Watson was healthy for the Texans throughout the 2021 season due to complaints, civil lawsuits and criminal investigations. He requested a trade before the allegations were made public.
