Covington speaks after a fight with Jorge Masvidal outside of Miami: ” He broke my teeth ”
Colby Covington made the unilateral decision on Jorge Masvidal when they met at UFC 272 earlier this month, but apparently they have unfinished business.
According to a Miami Beach police report obtained by ESPN, Jorge Masvidal is suspected of having a criminal battery in a fight Monday. Miami Beach Police Public Information Officer Ernesto Rodriguez told ESPN that the other person involved, who lost his teeth, could not be identified after claiming that right under Mercy’s law.
Jorge Masvidal tagged Covington in a tweet and said in the accompanying video: “You’re saying —, you have to back it up. That’s how my city is rolling, man.”
TMZ, which obtained video from the incident that shows police in front of Miami Beach’s Hot Spot Puppy Steak, catches Covington on camera and says: “She’s rocking here, trying to get to me, and I’m running. … How will she know I’m here?”
Jorge Masvidal’s manager, Malki Kawa, did not respond to a request for comment.
After responding at 10:55 pm, another person informed the police. ET, that he was attacked by Jorge Masvidal while walking away from the restaurant. According to the man, Jorge Masvidal ran from the left side and punched him twice. One punched him in the face and the other in his left eye. At the time of the attack, the man said, Jorge Masvidal told him, “You shouldn’t have talked about my kids.” Jorge Masvidal has repeated similar statements on social media.
The man had a broken left tooth and a friction in his left wrist. Jorge Masvidal, according to the person’s description, was wearing a blue surgical mask and a hoodie that covered his head. He was able to identify Jorge Masvidal, he said, because of his trademark curly hair that flowed from the hoodie in addition to his voice and the upper half of his face.
Jorge Masvidal, 37, came from Miami, while Covington now lives in the city Friends and foes exchanged heated words leading up to their UFC fight, which was called Fight of the Night.
Jorge Masvidal’s third straight defeat to Kamaru Usman with two defeats in an attempt to win the UFC Welterweight Championship. He signed an extension with the UFC before the fight.
Covington, 34, came back from his own defeat to Usman with a win over Jorge Masvidal. He is currently ranked No. 2 by Welterweight by ESPN.
Jorge Masvidal, Colby Covington Involved in alleged altercation at Miami restaurant
A few weeks after they confronted each other at UFC 272, George Masvidal and Colby got into an alleged altercation outside a restaurant in Miami Beach, Covington Fla.
Multiple sources have confirmed to MMA Fighting that the fighters were involved in some incidents that ended with a police response at the restaurant, although no arrests appear to have been made.
Following the alleged incident, TMZ obtained a video showing Covington outside a restaurant surrounded by police while he was talking to Bob Menari of The Nelk Boys Group, who has been a frequent guest at UFC events.
In the video, Covington is heard saying, “How will he know I’m here?”, Which apparently refers to Jorge Masvidal.
Menri posted a video with Covington over dinner before arguing with Jorge Masvidal outside.
Miami Beach police have not yet commented on the situation.
Fox Sports 640 radio personality Andy Slater reported the first incident via Twitter on Monday night.
After the altercation, Jorge Masvidal released a video on Twitter where he appeared to deal with the situation.
“Call it the Challenge of Your Face,” Jorge Masvidal said. “What’s up, I’m from Dead County. You’re saying *** you have to back it up. That’s how my city works.”
Jorge Masvidal has linked to another Instagram account for a friend who apparently had an argument with him. On that account, Suleiman Yousef posted a note saying, “For everyone in my DM, ask Colby for a selfie now.”

Of course, Masvidal and Covington have been in the worst competition in recent years when they were formerly friends and training partners outside of the American top team in Fla.
After their friendship soured, Covington eventually split with the team, which Masvidal claims started after the former UFC interim welterweight champion refused to pay one of his coaches who helped him during a training camp. Covington has denied that claim but the explosion with Masvidal has escalated out of control in recent months.
The rivalry eventually turned into a fight where Covington made a unanimous decision against Masvidal in UFC 272. Later, Masvidal promised that his bad blood had not been settled with Covington and that he wanted to continue their fight on the streets the next time they ran into each other. Others
