What you need to know about COVID-19 in Ottawa on Friday, Aug. 20  This week, three local music festivals will be held in Ottawa, combining virtual events with short live performances. Catherine O’Grady, executive producer of the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival, said she was “thrilled” to be able to safely perform face-to-face this summer.

“These artists can only play for a long time in the living room or basement. They really need the energy and power that only the audience can give,” O’Grady said.

How many cases do you have?
As of Thursday, 28,049 Ottawa residents have tested positive for COVID-19. Of the 128 known active cases, 27,328 cases are believed to have been resolved and 593 died of the disease.

Public health officials have reported more than 50,900 Covid-1 cases in eastern Ontario and western Quebec, of which more than 49,600 have been resolved.

Elsewhere in eastern Ontario, Kovid-1 of 199 people died. The death toll in western Quebec is 215.
